article submission guidelines

  • Articles can be written by anyone for a general audience. They can be written to entertain, persuade or be tutorial, but must be written in a style that is comprehensible to readers.
  • Feature Articles should not exceed 4500 words. Figures and tables should be limited to six. Other articles should be short – 700-1500 words.
  • Articles may be edited for clarity and grammatical accuracy, and will be copyedited according to the magazine's style. Heavy emphasize on lots of photographs and illustrations to enhance appeal.
  • Articles must be submitted as an editable electronic file. (ASCII, text-only) via e-mail ONLY! Microsoft Word files are acceptable. PDF files are also acceptable as long as they are editable. Use Zip (Win) or Stuffit (Mac) for file compression.
  • NO HARDCOPIES! NO FAXES! NO LATEX FILES! NO STYLE SHEETS!
  • All authors' must submit a 50-75 word biography (must include phone and email address).
  • If your article contains photographs, send original photographs for scanning by DQ. Digital photograph resolution must be 300 dpi or more in tiff format. DO NOT send gifs or jpegs. They will not yield high quality prints. Original photographs must be sent via registered mail to: The Editor, Dansiki Quarterly, 4464 Lone Tree Way #540, Antioch, CA 94531-7413
  • Final Article due at Dansiki Quarterly 4 – 6 weeks before publication date.
  • Articles submitted for publication in DQ should be original work submitted exclusively to the magazine. The author owns the copyright of articles submitted.
  • DQ assumes that material submitted to its publication is properly available for general dissemination to the readership of DQ. It is the responsibility of the authors, not DQ, to determine whether disclosure of their material requires the prior consent of other parties and, if so, to obtain it.
  • Authors must complete and sign a copyright form, as necessary. No electronic copies of the copyright form can be accepted. Mail signed copyright forms to: The Editor, Dansiki Quarterly Magazine, 4464 Lone Tree Way #540, Antioch CA 94531-7413
  • Statements and opinions given in works published by DQ are the expressions of contributors. Responsibility for content of published papers rests with the authors, not DQ.
  • DQ reserves the right to reprint the article in future publications and on the web version.

Final Note: Due to differences in printers and printer descriptions from computer to computer, there is no guarantee that .doc and .pdf files that you submit will result in documents that look exactly like your original versions after they are printed out here. When your page proofs are sent to you, remember to check them carefully for any discrepancies that might have occurred in the original transfer process. This is especially true if symbols and unusual fonts were used in the article.
